In our experience the latter test is easier to read and I think will be found more reliable.In this series of 87 sera, there were 59 who gave a history of syphilis or had luetic lesions; practically all were under treatment. All these sera gave positive 'wassermann reactions, while only 47 gave positive Gel tests.
