William Campbell Gault (1910–1995) was an American writer. He wrote under his own name, as well as (among others) the pseudonyms Roney Scott, Larry Sternig, and Will Duke. He is probably best remembered for his sports fiction, particularly the young-readers’ novels he began publishing in the early 1960s. Gault was also an acclaimed mystery writer. He was not limited to sports and mysteries, though—he also wrote a substantial body of science fiction. (Admittedly, he did mix crime and sports into his science fiction!) Raymond Zinke Gallun (1911 - 1994) was among the earliest pulp fiction writers who specialized in science fiction, and he sold many stories to magazines in the 1930s under his own name and several pseudonyms (such as Dow Elstar, E.V. Raymond and William Callahan). His first novel, "People Minus X" (included here) was published in 1957, followed by his second, "The Planet Strappers," in 1961 (also included here). He was honored with the I-CON Lifetime Achievement Award in 1985 at I-CON IV; the award was later renamed The Raymond Z. Gallun Award. The Golden Age of Science Fiction MEGAPACKTM series focuses on unjustly forgotten science fiction writers. Horace B. Fyfe (1918-1997) was one. An engineer by trade, Fyfe also wrote a long string of popular science fiction and fantasy stories. He published extensively in genre magazines from his first appearance in "Astounding Science Fiction" (February 1940) until his last publication in "Analog" (January 1967). Sadly, Alzheimer's cut short his career, but his family stepped in to save his writing files, including more than 90 unpublished stories and an unpublished historical novel. Most of his unpublished works are in other genres, such as suspense or mainstream, but a few are lost gems, and we are delighted to present two previously unpublished tales here. David H. Keller, M.D. (1880-1966) was indeed a medical doctor (a psychiatrist -- and the first to write science fiction). He was an early proponent of H.P. Lovecraft and wrote a number of articles on Lovecraft's work, whose influence can be seen in some of his horror stories. Another influence was James Branch Cabell. This volume concentrates on Keller's fantasy and horror, but does include -- at the end of the book -- a few science-fiction and science-fantasy works which we obtained to late to include in the (already published) Golden Age of Science Fiction volume of his work.
